Ingredients

  • 10 – 15 Okra/Bhendi (washed & cleaned dry before slicing)

  • 1 -2 Tomatoes

  • 1 (big) Onions

  • 1/2 tsp Channa Dhal

  • 1/2 tsp Urad dhal

  • 1/2 tsp Mustard

  • 2 tsp Oil

  • 4 -5 Curry leaves

  • 2 tsp Chilli powder

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

  • 1/2 tsp Coriander powder

  • A pinch Hing/Asoefoetida

  • 2 tbsp Yogurt/curds

  • Salt- to taste

Directions

  • Heat oil in a wok to this add the channa dhal,urad dhal mustard seeds ,curry leaves & do the seasoning.
  • To the above add the finely cut onions & saute them till they turn light brown
  • Now add the okra/Bhendi pieces which have been cut (after cleaning & drying the water on them,otherwise they get slimy to touch while cutting)
  • Saute it for a few minutes till the Okra/Bhendi pieces become stiff & crispy.
  • To this add the finely cut tomatoe,chilli powder,coriander & turmeric powder & saute for a few minutes after adding salt to taste.
  • Now before switching off the stove add the yogurt/curds to theOkra/ bhendi masala & seve hot.

Notes

  • The creamy feel of yogurt/curds with the crispiness of the okra is a treat to the taste buds
