Honeydew Sorbet is a refreshingly frosty dessert perfect for summer treat.This simple and easy, healthy, vegan and gluten free recipe needs only 3 ingredients. The pleasant hint of honeydew is complemented by the burst of lime in each spoonful.

What is Sorbet?

  • frozen treat containing just fruit and sugar/honey.
  • Dairy free.
  • Can be made at home easily in an ice cream churner or blender.
  • Is not creamy.
  • Can be scooped like ice cream.
  • The fruit flavor in it makes it very refreshing, hence often used as a palate cleanser during multi course meals.

What is the difference between Sorbet and Sherbet?

Sorbet  is a frozen dessert made from sugar-sweetened water with flavoring – typically fruit juice, fruit puréewineliqueur or honey,

Sherbet is a frozen dessert made with fruit juice which is then added to milk, cream, egg white, or gelatin,

Generally sorbets do not contain dairy ingredients, while sherbets do.

What is Honeydew melon?

Honeydew melon, or honey melon, is a fruit that belongs to the melon species cucumis melo (muskmelon).

The sweet flesh of honeydew is typically light green, while its skin has a white-yellow tone. Its size and shape are similar to that of its relative, the cantaloupe.

What are honeydew melons good for?

Honeydew melon help reduce blood pressure due to its high potassium and low sodium content.Regularly eating fruit, such as honeydew melon, is associated with a lower risk of diabetes.

Melons are low in calories and have a high water content, which makes them very weight loss friendly.They are full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Can you eat honeydew melon skin?

You may eat every part of a melon, even the peel. Seeds can be dried, roasted, or pressed into seed oil. Honeydew melon rind can be cooked or pickled.

Summer will fly before you know it, and school will soon begin. My kid had his friends over this weekend. Thinking of some quick refreshing drink ideas on this warm summer day, I came up with this honeydew sorbet.

An easy quick one to prepare and well appreciated!

Honeydew Sorbet – A summer treat!

Ingredients

  • 1 1 Honeydew melon skinned and cubed

  • 1 tbsp 1 Lemon juice

  • 2 tbsp 2 Honey /Maple syrup

Directions

  • Slice the honey dew melon in 1″ chunks & spread it on a baking sheet.Put it in the freezer for 4-6 hours until frozen.
  • Once frozen, put the chunks in the blender with the lemon juice and sweetener.
  • You may need to add a couple tablespoons of water to help it to start blending.
  • Put it back into the freezer for another 30 minutes until it sets.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Scoop & serve!
