Eco- Friendly Ganesha Collection
Ganesh Chaturthi, is an Indian festival celebrating the Elephant God, Ganesha. Each year this 10 day festival happens in September. It is customary and a tradition to bring home an idol of Ganesha.
These Ganesh idols are made of clay, Plaster of Paris and painted colorfully with chemicals. Every Indian household where a Hindu resides be it in India or abroad would bring home a Ganesha idol.
The celebrations continue with good food, friends and family gathering, music and dance for ten days. The last day of the festival is known as Visarjan. The day, when the idol is immersed in a water body.
Hindus celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi for 10 days, and on the the 11th day of this festival is Ganesh Visarjan. The day in which the clay idol is immersed in a waterbody symbolizing a ritual send-off of the Lord. In his on-toward journey towards his abode in Kailash/heaven, it is believed, that he takes the misfortunes of his devotees with him..
Little did people realize the consequences of these acts, which might have a drastic effect on the environment. The immersion of idols made out of chemical materials causes significant water pollution. The toxic waste from these materials kills plant and animal life in the water bodies.
Celebrating eco–friendly Ganesh Chaturthi enables you to celebrate the festival grandly, without harming environment and other living beings.
Being a lover of Nature and an ardent devotee of Ganesha, I have decided to go the eco-friendly way. Sharing motivational images of eco-friendly Ganesha here to help spread the message, during this season.
