Ingredients

  • 8 8 -10 pieces Chicken Thigh

  • 1 Large 1 Onion finely sliced

  • 1 Large 1 Tomato cubed

  • 2 2 Avocados skinned, pitted and blended into a fine paste

  • 2 tbsp 2 Coconut Oil

  • 2 tsp 2 Ginger Garlic paste

  • Salt to taste

  • Spices
  • 1 1 inch Cinnamon

  • 3 3 Cardamom

  • 1 tsp 1 Chilli powder

  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 Turmeric powder

Directions

  • Heat oil in a wok , when warm add the cloves, cardamom and cinnamon till they splutter.
  • Now add the finely sliced onions & sauté them till light brown, then add the cubed tomatoes & keep stirring till they turn soft.
  • Next add the turmeric powder, chili powder & stir for a few minutes, before adding the cleaned and cut chicken pieces into it.
  • Stir for a few minutes without adding any water allowing the chicken to cook in its own steam.
  • Next, add the ginger garlic paste & stir it into the mix, till the raw smell disappears. Add salt to taste.
  • Let the sauce cook in its own steam, now add the blended thick paste of avocados into it, which gives the gravy a creamy texture. Cook covered with lid for another 5 minutes until the raw smell disappears & you smell the subtle aroma of avocados blending with Indian spices.
  • Remove the cooking pan from heat & serve the avocado chicken curry with Indian flat breads or steamed brown rice.

Notes

  • The creamy texture of the avocados in the chicken curry proves to be a healthy choice in replacing the butter in the butter chicken recipe. Talk about maintaining those curves 🙂
