This delicious preparation with okra/bhendi can be used as a sidedish with rice, or can be eaten with Chappatis.
Okra/Bhendi- 10- 15 (washed & cleaned dry before slicing)
Urad dhal-1/2 tsp
Curry leaves 4-5
Chilli powder- 2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder-1/2 tsp
Hing/Asoefoetida -a pinch
Yogurt/curds -2 tbsp
Salt- to taste
1.Heat oil in a wok to this add the channa dhal,urad dhal mustard seeds ,curry leaves & do the seasoning.
2.To the above add the finely cut onions & saute them till they turn light brown
3.Now add the okra/Bhendi pieces which have been cut (after cleaning & drying the water on them,otherwise they get slimy to touch while cutting)
4.Saute it for a few minutes till the Okra/Bhendi pieces become stiff & crispy.
5.To this add the finely cut tomatoe,chilli powder,coriander & turmeric powder & saute for a few minutes after adding salt to taste.
6.Now before switching off the stove add the yogurt/curds to theOkra/ bhendi masala & seve hot.
P.S:The creamy feel of yogurt/curds with the crispiness of the okra is a treat to the taste buds
